Shooting/Stickhandling Program

This program focuses on all aspects of shooting and puck handling.

With shooting we will break down proper technique on wrist shots, backhands, snap shots, slap shots, one-timers, quick touches around the net, shooting in traffic. Further, players will be taught techniques that take advantage of modern stick technology as they continue to grow in strength.

With Stick Handling we will address the role of each hand on the hockey stick and teach a variety of different moves, pulls, taps, quick change of direction, controlling the puck with speed, attacking opposing players as well as incorporating shooting from a puck handling move. Players will also explore various puck protection techniques in small areas including along the boards. Sessions will begin with players learning these shooting and puck handling techniques in a controlled environment, before introducing traffic and game-like situations to enhance their ability to choose the correct shot and puck handling move.
