LET TPH HELP YOU
ENHANCE YOUR
ON-ICE SKILLS

Shooting and Stickhandling Program

Over the course of this 8 week program sessions will cover both shooting and stick handling techniques. Each week players will spend 30 minutes shooting and 30 minutes stick handling.

Shooting sessions will focus on the development of all types of different shooting techniques such as weight transfer, body positioning, timing, quick release and accuracy.  We will focus on these techniques while adding different ‘game situations’ while in the shooting room.  For example, shooting in motion, quick release off of pass reception, quick release out of moves & fakes, one timers, etc.

Stick Handling is one of the most important and innovative areas of the game.  As players become more comfortable with different stick handling techniques and skills it is important to maintain proper body and hand position so we are always able to make plays or shots in game situations.  Over the course of the sessions we will progress through a number of different areas of puck control including:

  • Push / pull moves
  • Fake passes / fake shots
  • Evasiveness with the puck
  • Saucer passes
  • And much more

Treadmill and Speed Program

This 8 week program will offer 4 skating treadmill sessions and 4 speed workouts.

Over the course of the 4 treadmill sessions TPH’s professional staff will have the opportunity to break a players stride down by focusing on skating technique, stride efficiency, stride length, knee bend and much more.  Players will receive instant feedback from the coach and with the large mirror directly in front of the treadmill can start to make immediate positive changes to their stride and their skating habits.  The skating treadmill simulates an on ice skating stride and allows players to focus on some skating essentials both technical and functional that directly translates back onto the ice.

Over the course of the 4 speed & agility workouts coaches will focus on improving a player’s coordination, body awareness and ultimately speed.  We teach players proper sprinting, jumping and lateral movement mechanics. As a young athlete it’s important to expose the body and mind to a variety of different physical disciplines.  We are constantly developing our motor system (movement/coordination) over the course of our lives.  Through research and experience we can see that between the ages of 7-14 coordination and speed can be strongly influenced.  Introducing speed oriented drills with technical guidance will help young players develop the speed and body control it takes to excel.
