OFF Ice Development Program
Players will be in groups of 6 and each group will get 50 minutes per station
Stickhandling
Stick Handling is one of the most important and innovative areas of the game. As players become more comfortable with different stick handling techniques and skills it is important to maintain proper body and hand position so we are always able to make plays or shots in game situations. Over the course of the sessions we will progress through a number of different areas of puck control including:
Push / pull moves
Fake passes / fake shots
Evasiveness with the puck
Shooting
Shooting sessions will allow players to learn proper shooting techniques (wrist shot & snap shot) along with relevant information as to the subtle similarities and differences between the two shots. Players will also learn proper posture, pre-shot handling, and upper/lower body separation, all skills necessary to be an effective shooter. Working on these skills is a great way for players to gain more confidence and develop a stronger ‘feel’ for how to continue developing their shooting mechanics on and off the ice.
Workout
Workout sessions will be fast paced and performed in a group-like setting. Players will go through an exercise routine focused
specifically
on stride mechanics, range-of-motion, and the flexibility necessary for elite skating.

Day 1’s AM ice will be focused on skating and movement ability while the PM ice will be focused on shooting and puck skills. Day 2’s AM on ice will focus on situational awareness and gameplay. Examples may include playing inside contact, vision/scanning, odd-number situations (ie., 2v1, 3v2, 4v3), position before possession. Skating and Puck Skills
This session will focus on proper use of the player’s edges to maximize speed and control through all different types of skating skills in game situations. Skills such as the forward stride, quick starts, lateral movements, bracket turns, etc. Time will also be spent focusing specifically on puck skills like shooting and puck handling technique in all different game situations. We understand the importance of being able to add speed with and without the puck and will also focus on adding a puck to these skating skills to help your player gain more confidence adding speed in game situations.
