June 27th On Ice/Off Ice Development Session

Players will get a 50mins On Ice sessions Focused on Skating followed by 45min Off Ice Shooting/Stickhandling and 45min Workout/Games session.

On Ice Session
This session will focus primarily on breaking down stride mechanics along with developing efficient edge control. There will be a mix of technical breakdowns with and without the puck. In additional to technical details players can expect to work through various drills that explore posture, efficiency, and movement within directional changes.

Shooting/Puck Handling

Shooting sessions will allow players to learn proper shooting techniques (wrist shot & snap shot) along with relevant information as to the subtle similarities and differences between the two shots. Players will also learn proper posture, pre-shot handling, and upper/lower body separation, all skills necessary to be an effective shooter. Working on these skills is a great way for players to gain more confidence and develop a stronger ‘feel’ for how to continue developing their shooting mechanics on and off the ice.

Workout/Games

Workout sessions will be fast paced and performed in a group-like setting. Players will progress through a functional exercise routine that incorporates full-body coordination, functional movement skills, and sport-specific strength exercises. Alongside the workouts we will also have some team building exercises and games to have fun in a group setting while continuing to develop physical literacy.
